Pain when chewing, eating, or drinking?

When bacteria that live in the mouth find their way into the tooth itself, it can cause an infection at the centre of the tooth, known as the root canal system.

You may experience pain when chewing, eating or drinking. Visit Threemilestone Dental Practice in Truro for a check-up – we’ll let you know whether root canal treatment is required after a detailed inspection and dental X-ray.

Early symptoms include:

  • Pain when biting or chewing.
  • Pain when eating or drinking hot or cold liquids and foods.
  • The tooth becoming loose.

As the infection advances, these symptoms may disappear for a while but will eventually return or be replaced by worsening problems such as swelling of the gums or face, increased pain and oozing teeth.
